Kahoks - Fighting Illini Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was created in 2024. Its purpose is to assist Collinsville High School graduates with educational costs at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

This scholarship was created by the Roger Reeves Family in memory of Deborah Jo Reeves -- wife, mother, and grandmother. This scholarship will be awarded to a Collinsville High School graduate attending the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana for their freshman year. It will be a one-year award of $1,000 to $2,000. The scholarship monies will be sent directly to U of I in the student's name.

Why the University of Illinois?

Roger Reeves and Deborah Jacob met on a blind date at the U of I in 1966. They graduated in May of 1969 and married in June.

The things they experienced together at U of I—the life lessons, the challenges of four years of college, and the formal and informal education they received—served them well. They prepared for a successful journey together through work, family, and life. The Reeves Family hopes to help future Kahoks have the same opportunities.

Why Collinsville High School?

In the summer of 1976, Roger and Deborah Reeves moved their family to Collinsville. That fall, their oldest child became a first grader at Twin Echo Elementary School. Over time, their three children, Roger, Brian, and Jennifer went through the Unit 10 school system and graduated from CHS. They were well prepared for their futures, and all became college graduates. Collinsville Unit10 provided the opportunities, the experiences, and the education to support their future success. Any Unit 10 student committed to working hard will find the faculty, curricula, facilities, opportunities, and education to lead to future success in life.
